DAVID HANEY

I was born on December 11, 1988 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mainly I grew up in Silver Lake, North Manchester and Warsaw, Indiana. When i was little I was diagnosed with ADHD and my mind was always curious about EVERYTHING. I began to discover instrumental music and  I became fascinated at the idea of becoming a musician. I just didn't know what instrument to play though. I became obsessed with the drums at about age 14. Then, when the blockbuster hit film "Titanic" came out in 1997, I was forever hooked on the piano. The movie score captured my heart and i fell in love with it instantly. I started to mess around on the piano, reduplicating the love theme from the movie on the keys. It was then i knew i had the gift of playing by ear, and that this gift would stick with me forever. I quit playing drums and pursued my gift of playing by ear on the piano. My parents even bought me a used upright piano to play on once they discovered my talent. I have tried to learn sheet music only to get frustrated because as many times as i tried, I never understood it. So i taught myself how to compose and play music by ear.  I still listen to movie scores to this day. At about maybe 17 or 18 years of age I discovered a musician named Yanni. It changed my outlook on music forever and even today he inspires me. I feel a sense of beautiful color when i play the piano. There is happiness in the keys. You just have to know which ones to press! Right now, at age 33 I still compose music. I also perform my music locally and around the state. Find me playing on many Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at Kroger in Warsaw IN! I play for the customers. I also perform at retirement homes and parties. Music doesn't just come from the heart.. Its much deeper than that. It comes from the soul. If i can make at least one person smile from hearing my music, it is all worth it...
